Welcome Aboard – Step onto our modern vessel at Darling Harbour and meet our friendly crew. After a quick safety briefing, we’ll set off on your unforgettable journey.
Cruise Through Sydney Harbour – Enjoy breathtaking views of iconic landmarks including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House, while learning fun and fascinating facts from your guide.
Out to the Open Ocean – As we leave the harbour, keep your eyes peeled for the tell-tale whale “blow.” Everyone is encouraged to help spot whales as we begin our search along the famous Humpback Highway.
Whale Encounters – Witness humpback whales in their natural habitat, from tail slaps to breaches, while our expert crew provides passionate, educational commentary. Kids and adults alike can join in by encouraging these inquisitive giants to approach the boat.
Memories to Last a Lifetime – After incredible whale encounters, we’ll return to Sydney Harbour, leaving you with memories you’ll treasure forever.

Itinerary:
Board the vessel and meet the crew, Safety Briefing

Cruise out of Darling Harbour with an introduction about the tour and the whales. Enjoy all the sights of Sydney Harbour including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House with some interesting facts along the way.

Head out of the harbour and find the whales! We encourage everyone to help looking for the ‘blow’! Watch the whales respectfully in their nature habitat with a passionate and experienced commentary, we love questions!

Humpback whales are very inquisitive, we love having kids and adults encouraging the whales to come to the boat! Head back into the harbour bringing with you life long and sometimes life changing memories.

Our Boats

Our boats are custom built whale watching vessels that allows you to get up close and personal with the whales!

Unlike other boats ours have purpose built viewing along both sides, allowing for you to be at water level and within arms reach of the water. Their engine power gets us out through the heads to the action and back home in under 3 hours.

Unlike other boats that resemble ferries and take 100’s of passengers, we only take small groups, which enables us to provide a unique and personal experience.

We saw several humpback whales and learned a lot from the staff, who were very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what they are doing. The boat was comfortable with plenty of room for all guests to see the action easily. They also provided beautiful photos (included in the ticket price!) that were taken by their photographer.

Jono (the Cetologist) & the Skipper were brilliant. I loved all the information about the Whales - what majestic creatures & they are the ‘ Global Engineers of the Earth’ - critical for our survival. Very educational & you realised how very nearly, these beautiful mammals nearly became extinct 😞. We saw a whale breaching, another one coming straight of the water to check us out, lots of tail fins. The small boat could get to the whale site quickly. We had a marvellous experience! They were so very friendly and had such great knowledge about the habits of whales, their needs and the dangers to them, their migration and what their movements (fin slapping, tale in air, etc) meant. We weren’t sure what to expect, but before we had even fully left the harbor, Mette was sharing all sorts of amazing whale information with us. We ended up in the middle of three pods of whales and had unbelievable interactions with them. I took probably 300 photos and videos of them waving their fins and tails at us. Mette was phenomenal and provided much wanted insight into the whales’ behavior that we were observing!

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I know it’s hard finding the right thing when there are lots of options, so hopefully this review cuts through. Whale Tales were amazing. We were absolutely thrilled to see a few humpbacks, which was of course amazing. But the generosity of the crew and skipper to hang around, then see another whale after we’d already been spoilt with a breach, AND then crawl back through Sydney harbour giving us the best views of the bridge and Opera house you could hope. If that wasn’t enough, they also brought along a photographer and the photos she took were both amazing, and included in the package. In total, the tour can be described as nothing other than supremely generous. Very, very fairly priced and a family run business, it was a real highlight of our trip. Highly recommend.

The last 30 minutes we had two whales that hung out very close; floating with their bellies showing and slapping their pectoral fins. And dolphins as a bonus!!!
